Versatel receives 10,000 orders for live football service

Raj Raithatha, chief executive of Versatel Telecom International, said his company has received 'just under 10,000' orders for its combined live football and internet service product. Versatel has launched a high-speed DSL internet service plus live premier league Dutch football for €39.95 a month, targeting 100,000 customers by the end of this year. The company plans to add voice over IP telephony in the third quarter, as well as additional 'premium' TV content in the fourth, Raithatha said at a news conference on quarterly results. Director Mark Lazar added he expects subscriber growth for the football product will really accelerate when the current season ends.
