FA pushing for goal-line technology

The English Football Association still will push UEFA and FIFA to implement more goal-line help technology.

FA Chief Executive Brian Barwick said it is inevitable that goal-line technology will be used one day, and it's just as well sooner than later.

Right now, the Hawk-Eye, used for in-out calls in tennis, is being tested for goal-line calls in football. The results will be reviewed by many of the top governing bodies.

"I would say we are market leaders in trying to do it and now the Premier League are taking it on in terms of experimentation," Barwick said. "I absolutely buy the fact that when the ball crosses the line, these days it's absolutely imperative that we know it, the referee knows it and he's not the guy with a red face because everybody else at home knows."

Hawk-Eye inventor Paul Hawkins believes, if the testing ends with a green light, that his system would be implemented in football within a few years.
