Liverpool wants GBP 250 million for new stadium naming rights

English Liverpool Football Club co-owner Tom Hicks expect the club to gain GBP 250 million, a sum that would break the world’s record, for the sale of the the club's new stadium naming rights.

The highest revenue paid for stadium naming rights on record is currently GBP 225 million for the Barclays Center of the New Jersey Nets, and American NBA team.

Hicks believes that 'The naming rights for the new stadium will be the most attractive in the world,’ because of Liverpool’s millions of fans worldwide.

Both Hicks and co-owner George Gillett have been seeking new investors to decrease the club’s debt of GBO 245 million. Hicks hopes to retain a shareholding in the club whether or not Gillett decides to sell his 50 per cent stake. 

Gillett has been in talks with Saudi Arabian Prince Faisal regarding possible investment.
