English Everton Chief Executive Robert Elstone spoke up about the club's potential move to Kirkby and said the club plans to fight for the relocation, even if a public inquiry attempts to dictate otherwise. Elstone further indicated that the club has no choice but to leave Liverpool, despite the fact that they've called it home for 130 years.

Everton is awaiting a decision from the government regarding its proposed 2011 move to a Kirkby stadium. A public inquiry is currently taking place and a decision from the inspector should arrive by next spring. The new location comes at a cost of GBP 150 million and will house 50,000 supporters.

The club insists that it has addressed every option, ruling out the likelihood of revamping Goodison Park or finding a new location within Liverpool. The move to Kirkby would make Everton a part of Tesco's GBP 400 million retail and stadium development and therefore help the club secure new investors, as reported by The Guardian.

The search for financial support has been bleak for Everton, leaving banker Keith Harris at a loss for ideas. Losing the opportunity to relocate to Kirkby could ultimately mean major financial setbacks for the club.

Everton can't afford anymore fiscal struggles, as they will be required to submit GBP 78 million towards the cost of the new Kirkby development. No details have been released as to how the club plans to acquire those funds.
