Swedish champions Elfsborg announced it is planning to build a shopping centre and increase stadium capacity at Boras Arena. The cost is estimated between EUR 8.8 million and EUR 11.1 million.
Elfsborg, a successful club that had a winning season in 2006, is one of the few Swedish clubs that own its stadium. Local councils own the majority of Swedish clubs.
"This will ensure that we can establish ourselves at the top of the Swedish game," director Thomas Nyberg told GP.
"You have to be a realist in this business and I think it is realistic to say that we can have a turnover of over EUR 11 million already this year."
The club also said it wants to increase the capacity of Boras Arena by 3,400 seats for a total of 20,000 seats. The club expects the work to be completed by April 2008.
