West Ham open talks for Olympic Stadium

English West Ham is primed to open talks about moving into the London Olympic Stadium after the 2012 games are finished.

Eggert Magnusson, who took control of the club in a GBP 85 million deal this week, will meet the government and Olympic authorities to discuss the switch.

"It is my dream," Magnusson told BBC Five Live's Sportsweek. "We bought West Ham where we are now - the Boleyn Ground - but looking at the future this is where we want to go."

Magnusson is prepared to accept a deal that would keep a running track at the stadium, which has been of main importance to those on the organizing committee.

Stade de France in Paris uses retractable seating when its track is not in use. Magnusson feels that can work.

"We know very well that we have to keep to the athletics legacy after the Games but Stade de France is a great venue and shows you can combine that very well," Magnusson said.

The talks will also cover whether the club will buy the stadium outright or rent it, the way Manchester City does with the City of Manchester Stadium.
