Despite it moving their club to another city, English Everton supporters voted to make a move to Liverpool for a new GBP 150 million stadium.
Approximately 59 percent of the voters approved the move as part of a GBP 400 million development. A total of 15,230 backed the move while 10,468 opposed it. It spelled defeat for a group of supporters who rallied around the slogan "Keep Everton in Our City".
Knowsley Council will donate land and Tesco will handle much of the construction costs for the stadium, which could be started early next year.
