New 75,000-seat venue proposed at a cost of Euro 250 million.

Architectural and consulting consortium Evata-Arpa-Amsterdam Arena Advisory has been selected by Spanish Valencia CF for the design of its new football stadium.

The new stadium will be built in the centre of Valencia, and is designed to host 75,000 spectators, bettering the current stadium's capacity of 53,000 seats.

The budget is projected at EUR 250 million.

"Football plays an important role in Spain and Valencia CF is football club with long and successful history," said Hannu Helkiƶ, director, Sport and Entertainment Venues at Evata. "So this project has huge importance among the fans and citizens."

Evata's recent project completions include the ColorLine Arena in Hamburg, Germany and the Kazan Arena in Russia, the home of Russian ice-hockey champions AK Bars. The firm's design for Magnitogorsk Arena in Russia is currently under construction and is also designing the new Hyllie Arena in Malmo.

Valencia's new stadium will be designed for multipurpose use, allowing the stadium to host all a variety of revenue-enhancing events. The design was based on the business plan and program for the stadium, developed by Dutch experts Amsterdam ArenA Advisory.

Amsterdam ArenA Advisory has been involved as specialist consultants in numerous stadium projects for a.o., including EURO 2000, EURO 2004, World Cup 2006 and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Recently, the advisory firm has been retained by the Italian Football Federation to assist it in preparing their bid to host EURO 2012.

"The new Valencia stadium will strengthen the city's position to attract international sports and entertainment events", said Ben Veenbrink, the managing director for Amsterdam ArenA Advisory.
