Serie A club Catania lost its appeal against a ban that was imposed on the club's Massimino stadium by the Italian Football League.
As a punishment after violence erupted at Catania's match against Palermo on February 2 and a policeman died, the club was told it would have to play the rest of the season's home matches at neutral venues and without spectators.
The Football League disciplinary committee confirmed the ban but reduced the fine from EUR 50,000 to EUR 20,000.
Catania is in seventh place in Serie A with 31 points. That is 32 points behind the leaders, Inter Milan, which Catania will play on Sunday at Cesena's Manuzzi stadium.
