Wembley delayed once again

An England v Scotland women's friendly at the new Wembley stadium has been postponed because of more delays at the site.

Stadium officials are firm that it will officially open for the FA Cup final on 19 May.

Stadium builders Multiplex have not handed over the keys of the stadium, and as a result, a 'community day' to show 60,000 local residents around the GBP 798 million venue has been pushed back from 3 March to 17 March.

The women's match is now scheduled for 11 March and will probably not take place, but there could still be another warm-up event for an England Under-21 game on 24 March.

"We still remain on track to host the 2007 FA Cup final, but the FA will only announce the 2007 Cup final at Wembley once the stadium has been granted its general safety certificate," said Alex Horne, Wembley managing director.

"We are on course to go through the necessary testing procedures."
