The 2.Bundesliga 2 club has announced plans to invest around EU 13m in their Playmobil-Stadion in order to increase the clubs’ waning popularity. “We need to have a ground which entices fans even if the team is stuck in the wrong half of the table,” said president Helmut Hack, who is hopeful that club sponsors, toy-producing company Playmobil, will finance the project. Hack insisted that unpopular plans to leave the Playmobil-Stadion in order to ground share a new stadium with arch-rivals 1.FC Nürnberg had been dropped and assured fans that the club will remain at their traditional venue.
