Scottish Heart of Midlothian is in a tussle with the new Edinburgh city council over redeveloping its playing area.
Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov is looking at adding a luxury hotel, shops and sports bars to go with the club's new 12,000-capacity main stand. But council members are leery of the plans, which include demolishing Tynecastle High School.
The old council agreed to Romanov's plans in March as part of a GBP 6 million sale. As a new Liberal Democrat/SNP coalition came into power in May, Romanov's footing might have changed.
The new council still plans on moving the school's site, but does not want to level the old building. Council leader Jenny Dawe expressed concern that a repeat of the 1960s would occur, when many older buildings were razed to pave way for modern structures.
