The SuperLiga club will open a new training centre in the town of Seixal outside Lisbon in December, which will feature six regular pitches, three synthetic pitches, changing rooms, swimming pools and dining rooms.
Although the work in Seixal started in 2000, little progress was made. It was only in February 2005 when the project took-off.
Project manager Mario Dias said: “It’s a special, beautiful piece of work that will be used by the main team, the B team and all the other players at the club. The main pitch with the stands is ready for use already.”
The construction of a new official headquarters, to be situated in the Avenida Lusiada in Lisbon, is also underway and is due to be completed in a few months time. The Estadio da Luz will continue to be used for training sessions as well.
