Five modern stadia with synthetic pitches are of the main attractions in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Peru. The 16 teams involved in the tournament are testing out the surface as part of an experiment which aims to ensure synthetic pitches become more widespread. FIFA is also using the tournament to try out the new goalline technology.

The tournament is taking place at the Nacional stadium in Lima, the Mansiche in Trujillo, the Elias Aguirre in Chiclayo, the Miguel Grau in Piura and the Max Augustin in Iquitos. The first four stadia were completely refurbished for last year’s Copa America while the stadium in Iquitos was reconstructed for this competition.
