Welsh Cardiff City chairman, Peter Ridsdale, answered fans questions put to him by Terry Phillips, of the South Wales Echo. Ridsdale was asked to update the fans on the new stadium and its cost, which is rumoured to run approximately GBP 42 million,

"We have the guaranteed pricing and, while I am not keen to say what the exact figure is, you are extremely close," Ridsdale replied.

Ridsdale also said the final contract with Laing O'Rourke is about to be signed and that the 2009-2010 season kick off will be held at the new stadium.

"Two years ago the stadium project was dead in the water," he continued. "Now, during this season, fans will be able to see our new stadium start to emerge and grow."

"Believe me, as we move closer to seeing the new stadium completed I am really excited about the whole thing. I hope everybody feels the same."

Ridsdale also was asked about the situation with the training ground.

"We are ready to sign the agreement to have our training ground at Vale of Hotel resort, hotel and country club," he replied. "That will be done soon. The players are already training there and to all intents and purposes we have moved in."

The lower floor of a barn at the Vale of Glamorgan will serve as office space for the club.

He also said they have use of two and a bit pitches, which are superb.

"We have one pitch and another which is not full size, available to us all the time, and there is another pitch on site," Ridsdale said.

"Our youth Academy is still based at the University of Glamorgan in Treforest. We will always be grateful to them for the help they have given us, and we continue to work closely with them.

"We also had talks with UWIC (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) about using their sports facilities and they have been outstanding. We are still working closely with them and they are keen to help the football club. Indeed, the whole community at large have been fantastic in their support. I thank them all."
