"Construction is on schedule." That is what Real Salt Lake (RSL) General Manager Bill Manning told The Salt Lake Tribune.
The stadium, which seats 20,000 people, is set to be ready on 9 October 2008.
Located in Sandy, Utah, the RSL Stadium needs to be better prepared for fire hazards.
Manning explained that sprinklers must be in place before the venue can open. In the event of a fire, Sandy firefighters will have to be present to direct an evacuation.
Concession stands and retail shops may not be open at the first game. Manning noted that these are the only aspects of construction that aren't necessary at the very beginning.
Parking facilities are required to hold at least 5,300 cars. Sandy requires an additional 1,000 parking spaces within two years to be created on the site. Fans will not be allowed to park on residential streets near the stadium. Currently, there is parking plan in place for 7,800 cars, some of which are off- site.
