The 2.Bundesliga club is facing a race against time to redevelop their outdated Wildpark Stadion after local authorities threatened to close large parts of the 32,000-capacity ground due to security concerns. The authorities have now informed the club that the wooden seat structure must be replaced before summer 2006.
The club’s Wildpark Stadion is failing to meet the requirements of a modern ground, and the club is keen to redevelop, but is struggling to receive planning permission from the city of Karlsruhe. According to the club, investor seems ready to provide the major share of the costs, but the club fears that the investor will lose interest if not given the green light to start the project before the end of the year.
