The Bundesliga club began construction on their new training ground at Dortmund-Brackel, which is set to replace the outdated Rabenloh complex. Due to the clubs’ financial worries, the project had to be postponed for several months and will now be carried out on a scaled-down basis.
The EU8.25m project will be undertaken by DWS, a publicly-owned construction company that will lease out the complex to the club in the next 17 years. The new complex includes three grass pitches, one artificial turf surface and a 1,700 square meter multi-facility complex, dressing rooms, gym and meeting rooms for the clubs’ professional, amateur and youth teams. Plans for a 5,000-capacity stadium for the second team were currently dropped.
