The Premier League club has been granted planning permission to increase capacity at The Valley by more than 4,000 to 30,900. The premier club sought approval from Greenwich Council at a meeting of its planning board. “This decision is vital to the ongoing development of our football club and our ambition is to have a capacity of 40,600” said Chairman Peter Varney.

A second tier will be added to the east stand and a new quadrant constructed in the south-east corner of the ground. According to the club’s official website plans for new facilities, include a business information centre, creche and college facilities plus an extra 30 executive boxes.
