Blatter likes artificial surface for 2010 World Cup
World Cup 2010 - 14 February, 2008
FIFA president Sepp Blatter does not have a problem with the use of artificial surfaces for the 2010 World Cup.
Blatter said the turf would work fine for the region, despite many players and managers being against unnatural pitch.
FIFA, however, is putting down the fake grass in every member in nation in Africa, with the exception of South Africa. The continent has difficulty with pitch upkeep due to rainy seasons and droughts. Plus, artificial surfaces allow multiple matches and events to be staged at one site during the course of the week.
Blatter said the level of play from African nations is at a peak level, and he wants them to have good pitch to play on.
