The Major League Soccer League club is considering moving its home games to the new stadium of American Football (NFL) team. MLS officials and Jets representatives have already met to discuss the proposal, which would cost US$84m. According to the proposal, the club will pay US$20m, the club's home town of Harrison is to contribute US$20m, the New York Jets will pay US$15m and state-issued bonds to cover the difference. MLS commissioner Don Garber said: "Every day that goes by is one more day the MetroStars have to stay in the Meadowlands, where the team will fail. The MetroStars need an environment they can thrive in." The MetroStars have been trying to complete a deal to build a 25,000-seat stadium in Harrison, New Jersey but three years have passed since the start of negotiations, and a deal, while still possible, is not imminent. The team has played at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford since 1996, and it averaged 17,195 fans a game last season.
