Malmo seeks Norwegian advice

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Allsvenskan club is looking to Norwegian club Rosenborg, the most successful Scandinavian club in the past 15 years, to solve the financial problems it has encountered while trying to build a new stadium. Malmö hops to replicate its business model and follow Rosenborg’s Lerkendal stadium success, which the club bought 50% stack in 2000 and has since built three new stands, making it one of the most modern stadiums in Europe. The Norwegian stadium which cost €30m recorded its best average attendance ever with 17, 003 spectators per game, an incredible success considering that only 150,000 people live in Trondheim area. The current Malmo stadium does not meet the UEFA requirements for UEFA Champions League games and the club will have to play its games in the 2005/06 tournament in either Gothenburg or Copenhagen
