Cardiff City stadium plan delayed

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Championship club has announced that construction work on its 30,000-capacity £100m stadium due to start in May will not begin until July. A number of legal issues surrounding planning application for the stadium and adjoining Retail Park are taking longer to resolve than originally anticipated. The club is now reviewing certain aspects of its operations and development requirements due to expected delays. Club officials had a meeting with Cardiff City Council to try and resolve issues that were delaying the opening of the project, which was budgeted to start in 2003 and the stadium was due to open in 2006.
