A concern that Kirkby is too small for a stadium-development complex has led opponents of an English Everton stadium to rally nearby councils for help.
Consultants employed by Liverpool City Council agreed with some residents that the area might be too small for development for a 55,000-seat stadium-Tesco complex. Some changes were made to the scheme, and a Tesco spokesman said plans had been changed. Whether that was enough remains to be seen.
Tesco did not adequately show a need for the size of the proposed store, according to a report on the development. A Kirkby Residents Action Group spokesman said the group would welcome help and influence from nearby councils to stop the development.
The regeneration scheme is valued at GBP 400 million. The borough authority is expected to decide on the development by the end of May.
