Bill Kenwright, owner of English Everton, withstood a lot of scorn at the club's AGM due to his plans to move to a new stadium being built in Kirkby.
One of the opening salvos came from a shareholder who told Kenwright that he "murdered the soul of Everton". Another said that Kenwright "will be the death of the club".
Seems like they don't follow his lead that it's good to leave Goodison Park.
At the same time, Kenwright admitted that, if the Kirkby plan fails, the club will have to redevelop Goodison Park.
Kenwright told the fans he sympathised and did not want to leave the homebase either. But Kenwright can point to the fiscal differences, with Kirkby running in the area of GBP 150 million, while redeveloping Goodison would cost about GBP 250 million.
The tense stadium issue overshadowed the fact that the club announced a GBP 500,000 operating loss, compared to a GBP 3.5million profit in last year.
