Sal Lake County in Utah could indirectly continue to help the city of Sandy with funding for the football stadium for MLS Real Salt Lake.
The county might extend a deal giving Sandy USD 300,000 a year for the Sandy Amphitheater. The deal was slated to end this year.
That extension allows Sandy to shift funds to other projects. That will be USD 300,000 free to be moved to other pressing needs.
"It's not money that we are giving toward the stadium," county councilman David Wilde told the Deseret News. ""We're giving money toward an amphitheater. Again, I guess there is sort of a wink and a nod saying if you guys in Sandy want to somehow rearrange your funds and somehow give it to the stadium, that's OK."
Sandy leaders aren't sure the leftover money will go to the stadium, but it is a possibility. Some civic leaders are reluctant to dole out extra funding to the stadium.
