Hibernian expand new training centre

Before anyone has moved into it, Scottish Hibernian is going to expand on its GBP 4 million training centre.

The club has bought additional sites near the 36-acre training site.

Hibs chairman Rod Petrie said the club has not decided what to do with the acquisition, but a 1,080-square metre warehouse on the site could be used as an additional indoor training area for Collins' players.

The club may allow the community to use the new site, but after the purchase from Charles Phillips and Sons, Hibs has total control of the roads leading into the complex.

"We shared the access road with Charles Phillips and Sons but now we have full control over who comes and goes," Petrie said. "We'll be exploring an expanding remit of the training centre and formulate our plans. One possible use of the warehouse, which is single-span and has high eaves, is another indoor synthetic area for our professional and youth players.

"But it may also open up other opportunities."
