Welsh Cardiff City has landed a shirt sponsorship deal worth more than GBP 1 million over the next two seasons, writes Terry Phillips.
Communications Direct, a mobile telecoms company, will provide the money in Cardiff City’s biggest sponsorship deal.
The agreement, revealed Tuesday by the Echo, replaces Redrow Homes on the front of Cardiff City shirts for the 2006-2007 season.
Communications Direct, which has a turnover of more than GBP 38 million a year, once made a bid to sponsor Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.
“We have acquired specialist companies to support changes in technology which we would like to make available to Cardiff City,” a company spokesman said. “We will be able to deliver increased exposure, increased revenues and cost saving for the club. We will be a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed partner ensuring a mutually very successful association.”
