French football federation (FFF), has added the gambling organisation PMU to its list of sponsors. FFF has acknowledged that there will be an increase in the per season  income worth millions of Euros because of the recently signed deals with companies such as Coca Cola, Crédit Agricole, Carrefour, Suez, SFR, Sport 2000 and Konami.

These organisations have renewed their partnership with the FFF, France's national team and the Coupe de France. The new contracts will take effect after the 2010 FIFA World Cup to be held in South Africa. Prior to that, TF1's broadcast coverage of the June-July World Cup will be sponsored by PMU according to the Sports Pro Media. The French national team's World Cup qualification has been the subject of heated debate because a handball from forward Thierry Henry led to the decisive goal against the Republic of Ireland in the second leg of the play-offs.
