SFA in need of new kit manufacturer as Diadora goes under

It appears as though the economic crisis is still making its way through Scottish football, as kit manufacturer Diadora UK falls announces its collapse.

The company has been providing kits for the country’s national team for seven years, with one year remaining in the deal. Perhaps most unfortunate fact of the matter is the money left owing on the final months of the contract, as noted by the Daily Express.

The agreement between the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and Diadora was brought to an immediate end and company employees were terminated without notice. 

The SFA is now working to secure at least a portion of the outstanding funds from Diadora owners, based on speculation that a list of creditors will prevent the company from fulfilling their financial obligations as expected.

According to an SFA spokesman Rob Shorthouse, a receiver has been appointed on behalf of Diadora, leaving the organisation no choice but to weigh their options.

Shorthouse confirmed that the kit company’s account is currently in good standing, while the last year of the contract requires funding.

 
Even though the SFA is preparing to search for a new kit manufacturer, the national team will continue to sport the existing kits for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches this summer.
