English Watford FC have teamed up with Evolution HDTV in a two-year deal that will make the high-definition television manufacturers the club’s main sponsor.
The American company was unveiled in 2007, setting up their United Kingdom operations in Hertfordshire, as reported by This is London.
As a result of the partnership, the Evolution HDTV logo will appear on Watford shirts, with former sponsors BEKO moving into the role of executive box holders and venue advertisers.
Watford Chairman Jimmy Russo spoke about the newly-formed deal, noting that he is ‘over the moon’. He went on to state that attracting Evolution to the club has resulted in a sponsorship deal that is ‘bucking the downturn trend’ currently affecting football.
Russo indicated that Ken Gooley, chairman at Evolution, enjoyed watching Watford play last season, surmising that the action on the field led to the discussions between the company and the club.
Gooley reiterated the comments issued by Russo, indicating that he is ‘delighted and honoured’ to become a part of Watford’s sponsorship sector for the upcoming two seasons. He called the club ‘an easy choice’, based on its traditions, heritage, and staff.
Gooley also confirmed that Evolution would be exploring an expansion of their position at Watford, beyond that of just sponsorship. He further indicated that Watford’s community projects are particularly appealing to Evolution.
