Barclays, the UK based international banking group, have renewed its title sponsorship of the Premier League that will last until 2010 worth GBP 65.8 million.

The new deal is a three-year extension to the bank's current agreement with the league which was due to expire at the end of the current season. "Barclays' commitment to the Premier League has been unstinting and this latest deal will make Barclays Group our longest serving title sponsor" Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said.

In that time, the Premier League has continued to grow and develop both domestically and internationally, which has matched Barclays own business plan and aspirations.

"I look forward to continuing the excellent relationship we have built up over the previous six years and am particularly pleased that this new deal encompasses our highly successful pre-season tournament, the Premier League Asia Trophy," Barclays president Bob Diamond said. "We all know about the fantastic appeal of the Barclays Premiership in the UK but this sponsorship also fits our international presence and aspirations particularly in Asia and continental Europe."

Barclays vice chairman Gary Hoffman also said that by the end of this new sponsorship the Barclays Group will have been Premier League sponsors for nine. "To mark the occasion Barclays will randomly select two season ticket holders from all 20 Barclays Premiership clubs and pay for their season tickets until 2010 when the new deal ends," Hoffman said.
