English Norwich City will be without a sponsor as cost-cutting airline Flybe announced it would not sponsor the club next season.
Simon Lilley, Flybe's director of marketing, called the parting amicable. He said the company wanted to explore other investment opportunities throughout the United Kingdom, and had benefited from the partnership.
Flybe had stretched itself throughout English football, and might have gone too far with sponsorship. The company name adorns the shirts of not only Norwich, but Southampton and Exeter.
While club officials said Flybe had been great to work with, the airline had not been on the best of terms with Norwich International Airport. The airport introduced a GBP 3 million terminal tax, leading to Flybe cutting some of its routes.
