English Barnsley has linked with CK Beckett, a Carlton-based metal recycling company, for a three-year sponsorship deal that the club bragged is one of the largest.

Details, however, were not entirely forthcoming on the amount of the contract, save that it was a six-figure deal.

"We are delighted to have CK Beckett join us in our mission to be a Championship force pushing for promotion," Don Rowing, Barnsley general manager, told the club's website. "We have signed a deal well into six figures because they recognise that the Barnsley FC brand is one of the strongest and most recognisable in the region.

"They have also seen that we are now more proactive in helping get our sponsors into the spotlight as a reward for their support."

Three brothers run the third-generation business. Chris Beckett said the reason for the sponsorship is because the family is Barnsley supporters, and that they wanted to increase the interest in their business.

"We are a Barnsley company and are proud of our roots, our town and our football club," Chris Beckett said. "This sponsorship will help raise our profile as well as showing that Barnsley as a town, a community and a football club is stronger together."
