Deutsche Bahn and German Hertha BSC have signed a three-year sponsorship deal beginning with the upcoming season.

Dieter Hoeness, manager of the Berlin-based club, and Deutsche Bahn CEO Hartmut Mehdorn announced the partnership, which was negotiated by SPORTFIVE, Hertha’s marketing agent.

Deutsche Bahn is the World Cup’s official mobility and logistics services provider, and is offering additional trains and special ticket deals, modernizing its train stations in the World Cup cities, offering special training for service providers and providing transportation for stadium and team equipment.

“Bahn and football are a natural match,” Mehdorn said. “Roughly half of all football fans take our trains to the matches. We are a National Sponsor of the Football World Cup. These are all good reasons to remain faithful to football beyond the World Cup. Our corporate home is in the German capital. And Hertha is a great team with Champions League ambitions. That's why we chose Hertha BSC. We are very committed to our new partnership and, of course, win a lot of new fans for Deutsche Bahn.”

The people in charge at the club and SPORTFIVE are felt the partnership worked well.

“We are proud to present Deutsche Bahn AG, a real blue chip, as our main sponsor,” Hoeneß said. “We look forward to the next three years of collaboration with a creative partner who already managed to develop a number of ideas for a vibrant partnership during the negotiations stage. This sponsorship sends a very important signal by underscoring the significance of the Hertha BSC brand. Deutsche Bahn is part of our everyday life and an important means of transportation for our fans at home and away games. That's one of the reasons that Bahn is an ideal partner for Hertha BSC.”

All Hertha teams from the first Bundesliga to the junior league will sport the Deutsche Bahn logo on jerseys. Deutsche Bahn also is planning marketing activities for their customers and Hertha fans, including special offers for trips to away matches, promotions in the stadium, and ticket giveaways and autograph signings at Deutsche Bahn facilities.
