Johnstone's Paint will sponsor FL Trophy

Johnstone’s Paints will sponsor the English Football League Trophy competition, replacing LDV Vans as the tournament’s backers with a three-year, seven-figure deal.
 
The Trophy competition, won this season by Welsh Swansea City, has been running for 23 years.
 
“This is excellent news and provides a real end-of-season boost for League clubs,â€Â said League chairman Lord Mawhinney. “All supporters want to see their club competing for silverware and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy gives clubs from Leagues One and Two a cup competition that realistically they can win.â€Â
 
Teams from Leagues One and Two have been joined in the competition by a number of Conference clubs in recent seasons. According to a Football League spokesman, the competition structure for next season is still being considered.
