M-net opts for Augsburg

M-net Telekommunikations GmbH and German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg have entered a new partnership. The deal will see the company, the region's leading phone and internet provider, positioning its Maxi DSL brand on displays, on the club's partner board and on the club website as well as incorporating it in promotion and sales campaigns revolving around Augsburg. The co-operation was initiated by SPORTFIVE, the agency responsible for marketing the club. M-net runs two Maxi Shops in Augsburg.

"M-net, home of the Maxi DSL brand, is an active and established partner in the field of football," says Christian Smetana, head of sales for the Augsburg branch of M-net, "so a commitment as an official sponsor of FC Augsburg, an aspiring second-division Bundesliga club, suggested itself to us as a fitting move. This is the fourth second-division Bavarian football club we are lending our support to; the others include 1. FC Nürnberg, 1860 München and Greuther Fürth. We will be making vigorous use for our communications strategy of the Bavarian derbies which the league contest produces. As the leading telecommunications company in Bavaria and the surrounding regions, we see the competition with other providers in our field, not least, as something of a sporting challenge. Not only does our company enable exceptionally reliable, fast, high-quality connections for more than 185,000 subscribers, but it also provides backing for numerous sports clubs on a lot of different competitive levels within the M-net operative region."

"Communication is a crucial factor in the everyday running of FC Augsburg," explains Andreas Rettig, managing director of FCA. "That is why we are delighted to have an innovative and established Bavarian communications company such as M-net at our side."

Andreas Heim, head of the SPORTFIVE Team Augsburg, added: "As a Bavarian company, M-net has a clear local focus and is keen to establish customer proximity. FCA offers an excellent emotional platform on which M-net is able to realise its communications goals."
