Joma to sponsor historic Queens Park FC

The Spanish-based clothing and sports equipment manufacturer has agreed to terms with the third-division club, which includes full training gear and footwear along with home and away kits. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Joma currently has deals with three other UK clubs: Wales’ Cardiff City, English Premier League club Charlton Athletic and Championship club Derby County. The deal with Queens Park is the company’s first foray into Scotland.

We’re pleased to be linking up through the official partnership and look forward to the exciting future that the club have planned. “The home and away shirts will feature up to date technical fabrics and new designs, whilst remaining in keeping with the rich heritage of the club. We are also delighted with the training product that will be offered to the team, in addition to the Hampden Park supporters.”

Queens Park President Gary Templeman added: “We believe that Joma are the ideal partner to help grow our business and merchandising division and community development programme. The opportunity of working with European manufacturers and designers is exciting and we are delighted to be forming such a strong alliance over the next four years.”

The club sports the motto “Ludere causa ludendi”, which translates into English as “play for the sake of playing.” The club is unique in that it is an amateur side playing in a professional league.

The club is one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1867. The club was key in the formation of the Scottish Football Association and helped organize the first England-Scotland international matches.

The club has one 10 Scottish League titles, although the last was in 1893.
