German Werder Bremen has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Citibank.

The sponsorship, brokered by marketing agent SPORTFIVE, begins on 1 July, and has an additional option year. The package includes shirt advertising, stadium presence with perimeter board advertising, VIP lounge, ticket allotments and use of the team for customer events and promotions.

"We now have the world's largest retail bank at our side as sponsor," said Manfred Müller, Werder's Managing Director Marketing and Management. "Citibank is an internationally renowned partner and has a broad presence throughout Germany. Another important factor is that the chemistry is right between us and the bank's management."

Peter Karst, a marketing director at Citibank said, since the club scored high on brand recognition and likeability, he felt his company "secured one of the best advertising spaces in Germany."
