Charlton Athletic extends kit deal with Joma
|
The Premiere League club renewed its kit sponsorship deal with sports manufacturer Joma. The new four-year deal extends the original three-year contract signed in 2003, meaning Joma will supply the club with kits, training gear, leisure wear and footwear until 2010. Director of Joma UK, John Woodfield, commented: “We are delighted to announce Joma will continue to be Charlton's official kit supplier for a further four years. Joma has formed a strong relationship with Charlton over the past three seasons and we look forward to working together until 2010.†Charlton chief executive Peter Varney also expressed his pleasure at the long-term deal. “We were pleased to announce our relationship with one of the largest sporting brands in Europe three years ago,†Varney said. “This extension to the contract continues the strong partnership that we have developed with Joma and it's important that we continue to grow and sustain the family of partners who play an important role in helping the club continue its development.†The deal with Joma comes two months after the London-based club signed a sponsorship contract with property firm Llanera, which, like Joma, is a Spanish-based company. The deal with Llanera will also run until 2010. “This also brings the club sponsorship agreement and kit supply agreement into line, which is something we have been striving to achieve for the last few years,†Varney said. Jose Manuel Lopez, general manager of Joma Spain, said: “Our UK distributor has developed a powerful affiliation with Charlton and the contract extension signifies intent from both parties to develop this association further.†Joma supplies kits to Spanish Primera Liga clubs Deportivo La Coruna, Sevilla and Getafe, along with UK clubs Cardiff City and Derby County. Joma also provides boots for Ivan Helguera and Franciso Pavon of Spanish club Real Madrid, and defender Noureddine Naybet of Premiere League club Tottenham Hotspur. |
