Werder Bremen prolongs Kappa deal

The Bundesliga club will continue its cooperation with the sports kit manufacturers, after agreeing a new sponsorship contract until 2009.

The club’s change of colors from the traditional green/white to green/orange have alienated traditionalists among their supporters, but sport director Klaus Allofs believes that the time was right for new ideas. “Our fans backed these innovations as in recent years we have managed to sell more and more kits and I am hopeful that we will reach the benchmark of selling 50,000 shirts in the near future.” Allofs also revealed that although several other sports manufacturers were keen to sponsor the club, the club has decided to continue the positive experience with their provider and opted for Kappa again.

“Since 2000/01 our co-operation has proved to be a success story which both partners aim to maintain. It’s one of the best possible honors if a UEFA Champions League participant like Werder Bremen continue to put faith in us,” said Peter Schmidt, executive of Kappa Germany.
