Woodie's retain Shamrock sponsorship

After renewing its sponsorship of Shamrock Rovers for a 10th year, home improvement firm, Woodie's DIY, is the longest-running sponsor in Irish football.

"This extension of the generous Woodie's DIY sponsorship says a lot about the relationship we've built up over the years," said Jonathan Roche, Shamrock Rovers chairman, on the official club website.

"Woodie's stayed loyal to Rovers during a difficult period at the club (following relegation to the eircom League of Ireland First Division in 2006), and we are delighted that they're still here now that we're back playing at the top level, and in good shape."

Ray Colman, chief executive of Woodie's DIY, said the sponsorship was mutually beneficial.

"Woodie's DIY is the premium brand in the home improvement market and Shamrock Rovers remain the biggest name in Irish football," said Colman.

"We've a lot in common. We've been fully committed to supporting the club over the last ten years, and it's great to see that Rovers are now back amongst the elite in the new, FAI-run Premier League."
