Atletico Madrid in a deal with KIA

The Primera Liga club has announced a sponsorship deal with Korean car manufacturers. Director General Gil Marin claims the contract, of which no financial details were given, will allow the club to make an impact on the highly lucrative Asian market and intends the club to tour the region in the foreseeable future.

Marin also thanked Columbia Tristar for their contribution as main sponsor in recent years and asked for their understanding. Marin stressed that the agreement will be extremely positive for KIA. “For KIA it means a lot of notoriety because of the importance of the club and I’m sure they will sell a lot more cars.”

Kenny Lee, president of the KIA subsidiary in Spain, claimed that his firm was growing more quickly than any other in Europe and expects the company to be one of the biggest in the world by 2010.
