Heineken, the Dutch brewery, is to continue as an official sponsor of the competition from 2006 to 2009. The Heineken brand will take over the sponsorship of the competition from Amstel (also belong to Heineken brewery), starting from next season until the end of the new contract. "The continuing partnership with Heineken for an additional three seasons of the UEFA Champions League combines the excitement and success of the competition with the values of this major international brand," said UEFA chief executive Lars-Christer Olsson. "The renewed support and contribution of Heineken towards European football, particularly as we are looking forward to an exciting time with the final being played tonight, is highly valued," he added. "We are delighted to have extended our sponsorship of the Champions League," said Heiniken N.V. executive board member Jean François van Boxmeer. "With over 4 billion viewers per season in 227 nations around the world, this premier sporting event has become truly global and fits perfectly with the Heineken brand, which is the world's most international premium beer."
