The German telecommunications is to retain its sponsorship agreement with the Austrian Bundesliga until 2008 after successfully renegotiating terms. T-Mobile previously had threatened to terminate the deal because of unhappiness about the drop in viewing figures when private TV programme ATV replaced state-run ORF as the leagues’ partner. Both sides failed to confirm the financial details of the new contract, but it is believed that the mobile phone company will pay significantly less than the previously agreed €3.5m per annum. Bundesliga president and Austria Vienna owner Frank Stronach was nevertheless pleased that T-Mobile was willing to change its mind. "We have made sure that the successful partnership will be continued, it’s a win-win situation for both sides," Stronach said.
