The Primera Liga club is about to sign a deal of around €125m for five seasons. The deal, which will be finalized this month, will see the club advance to the best earning club for shirt sponsorship. The €25m per year would break Juventus Turin’s current record which receives €22m per year. Possible sponsors are the middle-eastern air carrier Qatar Airways and the Republic of China. The latter could associate with the shirt sponsorship to boost its country’s tourism, and possibly promote the Olympic games 2008 in Beijing. Which of the two companies will get the edge in the bid is yet to be announced, as Laporta said to Spanish broadcaster TV3. Towards the end of last year, betandwin already made an offer for the shirt sponsorship of the club. The Austrian betting company allegedly made an offer for an estimated €15m, which the club didn’t accept.
