The motor-vehicle manufacturer Ford has announced details of its UEFA Champions League advertising campaign, which is due to start on March 8-9 with the start of the competitions knock-out phase. The campaign, which marks the launch of the company’s latest Ford Focus car, will go ahead with the agreement of CL major sponsor [brewer] Amstel. All stadiums hosting matches in the competition on the nights of March 8 and 9 will feature the company’s advertising on 50% of perimeter boards. Additionally, the campaign will feature on indents integrated into the opening and closing credits, and in all commercial breaks during broadcasts to pay and terrestrial TV customers. The television campaign is expected to reach 45 European markets, with an estimated television audience of 107m. Ford Focus adverts will also appear on the UEFA’s website and in all match programmes for the remainder of the competition. “As partner and official vehicle supplier of the UEFA Champions League for the past 12 years, we have built a powerful and successful relationship with this spectacular competition,” Victoria Wing, sponsorship manager of Ford Europe said. “This campaign demonstrates how the UEFA Champions League, when leveraged effectively, has become a key part of our mainstream communications. We have been delighted with the support that we have received from UEFA and the other partners in creating this campaign and hope to build on this innovation in our planning for the 2005-06 season.”
