BenQ, the German mobile phone manufacturer, is bankrupt and is leaving Real Madrid without a main sponsor. Since the start of last season, BenQ Mobile has been the club's main backer.
BenQ had previously said that the bankruptcy would not affect its sponsorship of the Primera Division club but sources report it is over.
The arrangement was initially made with German company Siemens Mobile, but in June 2005, it passed its mobile division to BenQ for EUR 250 million, which led to a new contract.
A contract for EUR 120 million was made for five seasons, from 2006 until 2010, making it worth EUR 24 million a season.
At that time, the uniform deal was worth more than that of Italian Juventus and Tamoli and German Munich Bayern contracts with T-Mobile.
