A new sponsorship deal between English Charlton Athletic and JD Sports, one of UK’s leading fashion retailers, was announced on Friday.
Under the agreement, the fronts of the Club jerseys will endure the Carbrini Sportswear name. It will become the major brand at The Valley.
Mark Hudson and Scott Wagstaff will be the first club members to show off the new jerseys, and will be modelling them.
With financial conditions the way they are, clubs have found it difficult to find sponsorships. Chairman Derek Chappell noted that he was excited to hear that JD Sports was interested in sponsoring the club.
"These are difficult times for clubs seeking sponsorship deals, given the current financial climate, but we are thrilled that JD Sports see the value of being associated with Charlton and all that the club represents, Chappell told the club’s website"
It is the company's first football club investment. They are looking to make the Carbrini Sportswear line more prominent, and made the move with that confidence.
JD has also offered bonuses that are contingent upon the club's success in competitions.
The deal is for one year, to start, according to Barry Bown, chief executive of JD Sports.
