Spanish Real Madrid is to strike a new sponsorship deal with online gambling site Bwin.
The club lost its previous shirt sponsor, Taiwanese company BenQ, which went bankrupt.
Bwin also sponsor Italian AC Milan. The gambling company is ready to pay at least EUR 15 million a season – EUR 5 million less than BenQ.
Rival Barcelona was on the verge of accepting a similar deal two years ago before going with an altruistic deal with UNICEF.
BenQ originally joined with the club when Siemens sold them their mobile phone business. The company still owes money to Real Madrid, with the contract not due to expire until 2010.
